Cinema Beef Burnt Ends : Commando Squad (1987)

What are you doing here?

Looking for a friend. Do you mind?

Kind of friend. Kind of

friend. Maybe. Maybe. Do you know where I can get some?

Calling us drug dealers? Is that what you're

calling me? No,

I'm calling you a midget donkey fucker.

You want to do something about it?

It's not fair. A gun against a knife

and. Por favor, no hitting below the belt.

It's not ladyl.

Now let's see how smart you talk when I cut out your

tongue. Praise the

Lord for bringing us this generous penalty.

Just give me all the bacon and eggs you have. Wait,

wait. I worry what you just heard was give me a lot of

bacon and eggs. What I said was give me all

the bacon and eggs you have.

L does about 56ameal,

huh? Look like me

back on the menu?

That's why I'm hungry. Each word I say

farther and farther into a radical.

No secret. It's amazing. Don't skip on.

I'd buy that for a dollar. No fat for

me, please. When you're trying to come back. Oh, look at me. Look at me.

I cannot seem EAS upset.

What about that time I found you. Naked with that bowl of junk?

Hello, folks. Welcome to Cinnamon Beef. The burnt ends.

It's that. It's that crispy part of the brisket that tastes so,

so good. Posse some sauce. You know,

and speaking of deliciousness, I have

my broadcast partner on last call. Torch. He's one of them

with me tonight. The. The great Cameron

Scott is here. How you doing, sir? I'm doing great.

I'm ready to talk some Fred Ray. Man, I love this guy.

Yeah, yeah, I forgot we're doing. Because we've been a while since

we did this. We. We meant to put more of these.

And that's my fault for not saying, hey, camera, you want to do some more

of these? So if you can recall the last that we're gonna do,

we'll do that to these two jams. But we figured we kick it off proper

back again and do some Braille and Ray jams

tonight. One, then probably Sunday night,

another one. Behind the scenes stuff.

This is Commando Squad from 1987. And here's

the trailer.

It was the perfect setup to infiltrate a drug operation from the

inside. But suddenly something went terribly wrong.

We sent 20 of our best agents down there to bust up that little paradise.

Seven of them are missing in action. They mailed the rest of them to us

in very small pieces. I'll send you a postcard. How you

gonna handle it? Like I always do. Organized chaos.

She's his only hope for survival and the last stand for

justice. She's coming and you can't stop. She's afraid

of me. I'm not afraid of her.

If you're dealing with the underworld, the game can get dirty.

This place is got to burn.

But when you call in this dynamic duo, the game will change

and the war will just begin.

Because they're the army that's gonna blow this battle wide open.

Culprit, Brian Thompson and playmate of the year,

Cathy Showers.

Together, they're the toughest team in town, rewriting the book on law

and order. Sometimes it's

not you play the game, it's how you win.

And if you want to win, call in Commando

Squad. Commando Squad.

Your cheap applause synopsis is an American narcotics

agent takes her squad to Mexico where she wants to break up a drug smuggling

gang that has also kidnapped her boyfriend. That is a shitty plot synopsis

for this movie. We'll talk lazy writing right there. That's lazy

writing. It's a sadder boyfriend, for one thing.

We'll talk about that, though. That's. Yeah, yeah. There's an inconsistency in

that. This is directed by Fred Olive

Ray, written by Michael Sonier. I have

to see what his credits are real fast. I'm curious is this is. Because this

is good, but it's kind of cheap at the same time. So we're

gonna look right now and see what he wrote.

Known for. Oh, the voice. He's also known as

Dookie Fly Swatter, right? Oh, that's him.

Okay. Yeah, same guy. Yeah. I'm pretty sure I was gonna make

that joke in Cyclone that it was. If it's a freaking

dookie supply squatter joint, it's obviously this or

freaking David Dakota movie. But he is directed by the one and only

Dookie Fly Swatter. Or written by. I mean,

did not know that was his real name. I just always come to keep Lywater.

This stars Kathy Shower as Cat Withers. Now she's in

a bunch of films like this and a Bunch of Skin Max that you

may have seen. Late Night Posse pulling your pud.

I have no idea. But she's in a lot of those kind of movies.

And including, including, including. Including Irresistible

Impulse, Love Street, Fatal Choice. That can

go either way. There's more of these. She's in a lot of

these, you know, bumping and grinding type movies.

The Skin of AX era, the Skin of X era. It's a wonderful thing.

The legendary Brian Thompson, you know him from. From Cobra

And Fright Night Part two and so many,

many, many things. Mortal Kombat, Annihilation,

if you're nasty. He's in that as well.

The great William Smith, one of the best heavies that have ever heavied

as Morgan Denny.

His credits go on and on and on. The exploitation era.

I'm not even going to go into it, but, you know, we do

a. Whole series like Last Call of Torches is on William Smith.

That guy's been in everything. I keep waiting for Doug Tilly

because he's. They're looking for a new show to do after the big Diaz

show ended. I must suggest that to do William Smith movies

because there's a lot of good ones out there, and one of

which is a favorite I I the Tiger with Gary Busey.

Well, William Smith plays the heavy in that movie, and I. Oh,

yeah. When he plays the big badass bald biker.

Yeah. I love that movie. I mean,

of course, he's also Conan's daddy.

Conan's dad, yeah. Yeah. The late,

great. I. I still miss him. Every time I walk into a convention, every time

I see a Days of the Dead and he's not there, I get real sad.

It's Sid Haig is Iggy looking like a Mexican

street pimp in this movie. And I'm not even mad about it. Okay. You know.

Oh, me neither. I, I hadn't seen this movie,

so I'm giving that away here. Earlier on, when I

saw that Sid Haig was in it, I was just like, I, I am all

in. Oh, it's a sign of quality for sure,

man. Yeah. Other folks include Robert Quarry,

who you may know as Count Yorga in the Count Yorga

movies. Mel Wells Quintano,

Marie Windsor as Casey Andre

as Anita. As some other folks in here, Russ Tamblyn shows up as an

anchor. I just, I've been watching Twin Peaks, so I've

been seeing Russ Tamblyn a lot again. For the

first time ever, I've been watching Twin Peaks. How's that

going for you? It's going good. It's going good.

I'll talk about that. Another show for sure.

Ross Hagen is Cowboy. There's some other folks in

here. Michelle Bauer shows us probably an unannounced

boobage moment, I'm sure. Probably random Mexican

damsel in distress. I don't even know. But, you know, the thing

is, I saw her name in the credits and we just met her like six

months ago at Cinema Wasteland, and I was just like, oh, great,

Michelle Bowers in this. But I'm like I could not find

her. She must have been like the third refugee from the left.

Could be, yes. Because I watched this twice and I'm just like,

I couldn't fucking tell you where

she was in that movie, man. Yeah, your basic plot is.

This is the plot of Commando basically where, you know,

they're told her team is dead. She goes to go find

one of the members of her team in a Mexican encampment.

And it turns out that that William Smith,

who's not Vernon Wells, is not dead and he's working for this

group, mercenaries. And she's gotta go

blow out old Brian Thompson or be the hero with her,

her fake Joan jet wig on and blow some people away.

Oh, that wig is what's better than her hair. I'll get into that when I

have my, my talk about that. So you know,

Cameron, first time watching you, first time watch for me.

What'd you think of Commando Squad from 1987?

Well, dude, if you can. If the listeners at home can't tell

from the model laughing that we're doing this movie's a hoot.

And by saying that, I'm like, I'm not saying it's good.

It's one of those. And I do believe in this saying. I'm a firm

believer in something that's so bad it's good. This movie is pretty

self aware what it is. It's a spoof of action

movies. It's got every trope, it's got the damsel

in distress, but the damsel is Brian Thompson. So go figure that one out.

As Clint, he spends more time being captured and

running away than he does anything. And that's not a slight to his

character, to his acting, because he does great. But this

movie is like a who's who of Z

grade actors of the 80s.

And I say Z grade. I mean that with utmost respect because I love the

Z grade stuff. You know, Robert Corey, William Smith, Sid Haig,

I mean, Russ Tamblyn, I mean everybody else that's in it. I mean,

I'm a huge Robert Corey fan

and I've been a fan of his ever since I saw My mother introduced me

to the, the Count Jorgen movies when I was a kid.

So this movie was just a hoot to watch. Like everybody in it. I'm pointing,

I'm like, oh, that's Tank, you know, that's Tane McClure. Oh, that's Ross Hagen.

Like, you know, everybody was somebody that

I recognized. And the action is good, is really

good as well choreographed. I mean and when I started diving into this,

doing the kind of a deep dive, I couldn't believe that this movie was filmed

for 750,000. Now I don't know if those numbers were fudged

up for something, but it has a feel of a much bigger budgeted

movie. And I usually.

I just have an infinite love for movies

that are inept, you know.

And I have to say that about Fred Olin

Ray. A lot of his movies are very much on the fringe,

but I love this. I'd say it's

a lot like his other 80s

actioners. Like Terminal Force is a little similar

to that. It's a little similar to Armed Response which

I've seen several times. So I don't know how this one ever slipped

past me. I always was renting movies like this when I was a kid.

So I have to thank you for, you know, suggesting us to doing

this one. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed this film immensely as first time

watch. Yeah, I'm right there with it is a

tolerable yet enough action film. I mean

the plot's real loose. I mean she our

lead actress who was playmate of the year 1986 by the way.

So she's used to taking her clothes off. We don't see any

of that in this movie. I guess they, they. I guess Fred found

a girl that takes her clothes off but doesn't take clothes off in his movie.

I, I guess he did a good job there, I guess. But she's

a cop. I guess it's gonna go on vacation. But of course,

you know, this one job sucks her back in and

it goes on from there. I think it's biggest.

It's not his biggest crime because he thinks this

right away takes us. This actress is that. Well, it's not just at this point

she's just a model. It turns into her to a pretty

decent action star for probably one of her

first times out in something like this. Yeah, I thought she handled

it pretty well for being, you know, pretty much, you know, a newbie at

the business. I, you know, I wasn't that familiar

with her. You know, I've seen a couple of those Skin and Max movies back

in the day. But she handles the action fairly well. I mean she makes it

look believable. Told the gun right for one thing. So that's

a big first step. One that you know, she told an assault rifle

is obviously not. Not real or else she probably knock around a little

ass. But you know they have the whole. And this is where it's

pretty right Away because you have the opening sequence to where she's looking

for somebody. I forget the plot point, but she follows them into like of course,

a steel warehouse to where she dispatches them.

And I don't know if, if Fred had like good

stunt coordinators on this movie working with him. I think on the next one we're

talking about the stunt coordinator acts and, and, and does the stunts

and the next we're gonna talk about. But he

made it, he may look good as far as like her

movements and how she handles the gun and all kinds of other good

stuff. And I, I, I have to commend him for that because

I doubt a lot of it had to do with her. I mean, I had

a talk with Bradley Greg, who's Philip

in Nightmare 3, and Cody Culp from Class of 1999.

I talked. Oh yeah, yeah, Cody, I remember that character.

Yeah. And he was telling me that, you know, he, they had John Wayne's like

stuntman, you know, working on that movie. And this is

who in Steve McQueen stuntman who taught him how to handle the weapon.

And that's the big first step for me is as long as they know

how to handle the weapon. A lot of films can be

handled, like watching Danny Bonaduce play the bass guitar of

the Parsons family. Like he's not, he's just kind

of like rocking it up and down. Not really do anything with it, you know.

But yeah, she does it real good in this movie though. And I have to

commend him for that. Yeah, I have to also give her some

accolades because she didn't do the thing that most, you know,

non weapon coordinated kind of people do

with the weapons and they walk around with their finger on the trigger

all the time. That bothers the shit out of me. Yeah, it's just like that's

not proper gun safety. It's like at least like tell your actors that don't

put your finger on the trigger until you're supposed to pull it.

But one of the biggest mistakes that I, we talked about her hair earlier and

the raven wig that she wears in this movie where she takes it

off, she has like this big poodle mess, blonde hairdo and

like. Yeah, you should have kept the wig on, darling. It kind of takes away

the illusion that like you're this Joan Jet badass now. You look kind

of sad a little bit, you know. Oh yeah, that's definitely a Joan Jet wig

man. Yeah. But yeah,

I, I like the whole concept of this. Like she goes to Mexico,

she finds her, her former partner Former, you know,

team member that she thought was dead. He takes

her, takes her into camp, like, huh, I got something here. You think she

has it. But you know, the movie's about, only about a third of the.

And so of course the double cross happens and

I, I just love the reverse, the reverse effect in this movie

because Brian Thompson is captured. I mean they're pulling his teeth

out, doing all kind of nasty to him. Oh yeah, they're torturing the.

Out of him. Usually in a movie like this, you know,

it'd be the other way around. The woman, the woman gets kidnapped and

you even thinking already writes,

writes women pretty well though I will say as far as in these kind of

movies. But it's a nice change for, for 80.

For 87. You were. A lot of these action

films are very male driven to have inexperienced

Kathy shower, you know, kind of show them

up a little bit, you know. Yeah, I think they

reversals roles very well. Like I never thought about it

until like halfway through it. I'm like, yeah, this is like a. Pretty much a

role reversal for, you know, I mean especially. That's pretty progressive

for 1987, man. Yeah. Plus of course

you got great heavies. I mean when Sidhe comes on screen,

he has some, some great lines in this movie too.

And oh yeah, of course, just, just a towering,

you know, presence. He didn't gotta say anything. He's like, he's like

Franco Nero. He gotta say nothing. He just kind of stands there and you know,

the whole thing with them literally up to it, it kind of lulls in

the middle a little bit. For me. That's my, my guess, my biggest,

you know, a bitch about the film. But you know, it does drag

in the middle for it because it feels like all of a sudden in the

middle they didn't know where they're gonna go with it. Yeah, but you know,

that's, that's, that's problem with the writers for me. I mean, because of 4.1

on IMDb that's not really fair to me. I, I'd say that's

closer to a six if you ask me. But yeah, I give it a

six. Maybe like a six and a half maybe, you know,

I think. But yeah, a 4.1. You said that was on IMDb.

Yeah, that's kind of, kind of because. Yeah, that's low

balling. It does a lot of things for, for,

for a low budget action here directed by

Fred Olin Ray. I mean once you get past all the stuff

with, you know, they throw a love Interest in there, which I think is really

stupid with. With the Hispanic girl. Oh,

Anita. Yeah. They just kind of throw that in there because she's

the contact. And it really doesn't go anywhere, but it

picks up, you know, in the grand. The great escape

at the end. And I think that, you know, it just.

Yeah, they were looking for something to fill that. Fill 85 minutes.

And the middle part lacks, but the

rest of it rocks, I'd say. Yeah, I mean, it's got a great first.

First, you know, half an hour, and then it's got a,

you know, the second half hour. Kind of like you said, it lulls a little

bit, but then, like, it really picks up in that, you know,

that final third. Yeah. Oh. Oh, here's the guy.

Oh, that's it. No, that's the wrong guy. Never mind.

One thing I liked about this film a lot was. And the next film,

too is like the front rock score that they gave it.

Oh, yeah. That real weird synth track that it's got.

Yes. The synth mix with the guitars, it's working for me.

It's not like a lot of other films I've seen where, you know, they have,

like. He did,

like, Casio keyboards. We did one a while ago called Wired to

Kill. Me and Ricky Morgan did a short time doing crippled theater.

And it was just like. Somebody got a Casio keyboard

from fucking Radio Shack and said, I'm gonna make a music score.

And then they put it in the movie and, you know.

Yeah, it's. It's a notch above that. It's not much

above that, but it's a notch above. I would totally rock this soundtrack if I

had it on CD or something, I would fuck Rocket. Oh, yeah. Oh,

yeah. I think, though. I gotta say, though, when you were mentioning

a few minutes ago about Sid Haig chewing up the scenery and having the best

lines. I love the line he has in the opening scene with Brian Thompson and

Tayne McClure when he's just like. Like, where they said something

to the effect of like, oh, is this homegrown? You know, is this. You know,

I don't know anybody that has cocaine, you know,

local to the area. He's like, what am I supposed to do, man? Advertisement Advertise

it. Cocaine five miles out.

Said it only the way that said, hey, can. Oh, yeah.

Dressed like a fucking extra from Miami Vice, he was, man.

Oh, yeah. With the. With the lapels and everything. Just looking. He's looking

fly, I gotta say. It's like he. He kept his wardrobe

from which. Which Pancreas. Was he in. Was he in

Coffee? Was that the one he was in? I thought it was

Foxy Brown, but it might have been Coffee. One of those. He had a

suit like. Just like that. It's almost like he kept his wardrobe.

He brought it to set. It's like, this is what I'm gonna wear today,

you know? Would you tell that man no?

I. I tell that man no. When he. To what? He used to take my

phone and call random people and them. Yeah, I never told him that. No way.

That either. But, you know, again, I'm having. I'm having Sid Hay memories

here. You know, they're good memories. I missed that man.

Actually, I looked it up while we were talking. It was Foxy Brown.

Okay. I know it's one of those two. I just couldn't recall. They kind of.

Actually, no, I scrolled even further back. He's in Coffee as well.

Oh. So it could have been either one, man. I wasn't going crazy.

Yeah, he's wearing a suit just. Just like

that, though. Like the blue lapels and stuff. And. Yeah, it's.

It's like, hey, dude, I got my own wardrobe covered.

God damn it. You know? Oh, my gosh.

But, yeah, this is a ton of fun. I'm sorry. Go, Cameron.

I was just. I was just gonna say almost the exact same thing. This movie

is shit. Ton of fun. I mean, it's action packed. It does lull in

the middle a little bit. But if you can't get behind William Smith

and Sid Haig together as heavies in this and Brian Thompson,

I mean, with everybody that's in. If you can't get behind this movie, I.

I don't know that we can be friends, man. You know, I would tell

somebody that, like, what you didn't find Commando Squad, like, I wouldn't.

I wouldn't say is like, you know, the John Wick of action movies or anything,

but it's fucking fun. It's a good way to spend less than 90 minutes.

And William Smith dressed like he's getting ready to go on a Hawaiian vacation

throughout the whole movie, trying to pretend that he's not doing his best.

Vernon Wells, I mean, that's. He's great as that

heavy Morgan because, you know, like I said, I went

into this blind. I hadn't. I hadn't watched it before,

but I, you know, I like the twist that, you know, he was,

you know, a DEA agent that went, you know, went rogue and went

bad. I kind of like that idea. You know, it's I

wouldn't say it was that different for the time because they were definitely kind of

riffing on, you know, the Vernon

Wells slash commando movie a little bit. That is what

they're doing wholesale right there.

Yeah. Minus the chain veil. But the mustache is

intact, you know. Oh yeah, the mustache is there.

And. And when you got William Smith is, is your like main

heavy, you know, you're gonna have a good time. Oh yeah. Because you

do the whole thing where they think all the guys are dead, they're presumed dead,

and all of a sudden, hey, they're alive, you know,

I. Love how they just, they dispatch. How they dispatch

William Smith at the end with that knife, what was

it? Sulfuric acid or whatever the hell it was. Did she stab him in the

dick or she stabbed. I can't tell because they really don't show like the

penetration obviously. But obviously downstairs

is where he meets his end, you know. Yeah. If it's

not in the junk is very. It's junk adjacent.

One of my favorite parts about this movie is like, again,

I think Brian Thompson escapes. Escapes his captors a

good two or three times. And the one time he escapes them,

he like has like bimbo moments to where he has

a handgun. He dispatches the guy with the machine gun,

doesn't go back for the bigger gun, tries to steal the motorcycle.

The motorcycle falls over. He can't pick it up, of course. I mean,

it's almost like again he's. He's like the damsel under stress.

He can't do anything. So it's almost like,

yeah, he's weak. I guess maybe he's weak from being in prison all

this time. That's what I took it as. I took it

like he's been, he's been being chased, he's been beat up, he's been shot at,

he's been had the shit tortured out of him, like.

And he's been tied up for fucking days. I. I just kind of took it

as like he just, you know, he was just running out of gas and.

But you know, he's not the hero of the movie. You know, that's Kathy

Showers character cat. She's definitely. Because he even

says, he's like, oh, when he tells. When William Smith has that

kind of father to son moment. Brian Thompson even says that, he's like,

why are you having this talk with me? He's wait a minute. He's like,

they suck cat on you, didn't they? And he just kind of laughs at him.

He's like, oh, one of those like you were in so much trouble, dude.

You know, and like. Because she's the badass of this movie.

Yeah. And that again, that's a nice switch.

And it's not something that happened back in these days.

I gotta give him. I gotta give him the love he deserves, you know?

To Fred and good old Dookie Flyswatter.

I wouldn't ever call him Michael Sonier. Never. His name

is Dookie Fly Swatter. Okay. You know, I mean,

you know, hey, he's. He's my boy, man. And like. But between Nightmare

Sisters and Sortie Babes and Slime Ball Bolarama, you know,

man, that dude's the man. I actually still have a

cup. A copy of his album on audio

cassette. Not. Not on cd, not even on vinyl. He had

a band called Haunted Garage. Yeah. And it was just

a bunch of punk, you know, kind of weird cramp style punk rock.

But if you're. If you're so inclined to look it up, you can find that

some of the songs on YouTube is highly worth. They have songs.

They have songs in Nightmare Sisters and they have songs.

And in Cyclone. They perform live in Cyclone.

You know, spoilers for that review. But the band performs live

in Cyclone. Oh, nice. Yeah.

So looking forward to that. You get some Haunted Garage action in the

next movie for sure. But as far as actually

this. This is a fine action and you could do

a lot worse. Biggest,

you know, thing I could toss in the garbage is there's too

much gender monologue with Cat. In my opinion. It just.

There's too much going on. Yeah, it's not.

What was that movie called with Duda Cough? Me and Me Lee did it for

Be part of the Cannon. Was it river of Death or something? It was called.

Yeah, river of Death with the old duty. Yeah,

Dude Cough. The whole whole time was doing the inner monologue,

you know? Oh, yeah, that inner monologue,

it sounded like something that was from another movie.

Like they had filmed like a film noir and they just like

half the, like, half the time I understood why they were using it, but other

times it would just be like her infiltrating the. The area.

Like all the money they had and they. They set. You know,

they. They set up this shitty little camp and. Oh, my God,

I was just like. It was so monotone. Like, as an actor,

she was really good. She did a decent job as an action

actor, but doing voiceover work and monologue

was just not. It's not her forte, man. Yeah.

Yeah, that's. That's really the only thing. Bad thing I

have to say about her is that the inner monologue was terrible. But that was

a director and writer decision. Not so much her

decision, obviously, but it wasn't, it wasn't necessary. It's kind

of like. It's kind of like, you know, and I'm not the biggest

Blade Runner fan. But I was thinking the same thing.

That sounds really stupid there too. I'll say about that.

Yeah, yeah, I would be totally. For like this movie would

go up to. From a 6 to 7 if you could give

me a non monologue cut. Yeah, give us

the. Which I, I can see this one, you know, and I

really haven't surprised that more Freddle and Ray jams haven't reached

like a Vinegar Syndrome or Severin release because this

would be a fun one. And, and a lot of these guys are still with

us. Of course. I'm sure if they tried real hard, they could throw a stone

and get a Kathy shower to do. Do something, something. And Brian

Thompson do something, you know. Oh yeah. Is William Smith

gone now? Where. Look right now and I'll tell you. Yeah, he passed

away like four or five years ago, I think. 20, 21.

Yeah. Yeah, this would be a fun release today. They grabbed this because the,

the version I watched was like a VHS rip,

unfortunately. And. Same, same. Yeah,

the dark spots were dark and you know, the fuzzy spots were

real fuzzy. Yeah, the sound was exceptionally

good. I would give it that though. Yeah, it was exceptionally good

and I, I just need more. I need a better version of this and I

think I would enjoy it even more and. But we'll,

we'll leave it with this. Anything else you want to say about it, Cam,

before we head out? Yeah. To the people at Severin

and the people of Vinegar Syndrome or Arrow. Get off your asses and do

a release of this. The. The elements have got to be there.

Just contact Fred Olan Ray. Hell, I mean

it needs a dvd. It needs least a, you know, a Blu

Ray or I would even dare say a 4k because I

would love to see a good version of this. And if we could only get

the. I'm gonna say the, the non monologue

cut, I would give that a 7.

The only other thing that I would say that would make this movie better would

have been a bookend with Robert Quarry's character at the end. I feel like they,

you know, they, they used him pretty much. You know,

they look like they had him for a day or two. I could have done

with another. I could have done with another five minutes of him Arguing with the

Chinese takeout guys on the phone. That was,

that was great stuff. But, yeah, great movie.

Wonderful first time watch. I mean, everybody in it is,

is, you know, working their asses off. You know, you show up for William Smith,

but you stay for Sid Haig, is what I, I got to say about that.

Sid Haig is the mvp. But, but then again, Sid Haig is always

the MVP whenever you put him on camera.

And, you know, and like you said, I miss that man immensely.

You know, every time I saw him at a Horror Hound or Days of the

Dead or whatever convention, he was somebody that was always larger than

life and such a genuinely nice person. I miss him.

But to think that we still have movies like this,

that at least for me and for you, Gary, that we

haven't seen yet, because we're just going to say that the amount of films out

there are almost infinite because there's so many of these movies that we, we haven't

seen. And I, you know, I, I appreciate this

movie for the, you know, giving that to us. Like I

said, it's a great time. It's a fun watch. You want, if you want

something not like a Fast and the furious movie that's 2 hours and 45

minutes long, you want something that's a CRISP, you know,

85 minutes, you know, the won't, you know, kill you on your.

Your evening, watch this movie, man. It's badass.

You know, you think that, you know, when they put the rock

in on the back of the Pontiac Fiero, I would have strayed me

away from the Fast and the Furious series. They literally went into space

with this car. But it didn't. Yeah, I stuck around for,

for, for Jason Mo as just like gay lion. I was all

for it, man. You know, I liked it. I liked it. But I'm just saying,

you could watch this movie twice in the time. You could watch one

Fast and Furious movie, you know. Yes, indeed. At least one and a half times.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. But, yeah, this is totally service play. I've seen

tons worse than this movie. Again,

Kathy Shower. She really gets an MVP

for a lot of this film because she is inexperienced as

an actress and as an action person.

But I had to look up the stunt coordinator real

fast. I lost the dang thing already as it is.

But look right now and tell you who dang. Make up the

problem. Make up the problem. Sound effect, stunts,

stunt coordinator.

Oh, it doesn't show it. Oh,

well. But whoever was that who taught her how to handle stuff and

handle herself and the Guns and the action made

her look really good on screen. Not just as a female presence,

but as an action presence. And I got to give it

flowers for that, man. It's just. It's just fun

for that reason that she took on this role, you know,

and. Yeah, because it was supposed to be civil danning, what I read.

And then there was some sort of weird falling out or there's a weird

thing that happened between her and Fred Owen Ray. And I like civil danning,

but I think Kathy Shower did a fucking great job.

I have no problem with her casting in this. I would take either one.

I would take either one. But, yeah, aces, man. This is fun.

It just needs to be. Be more. Be more available to people,

in my opinion. And I never knew Dookie

Fly Squatter could write an action movie, but now I could say he can.

So there's that, you know, and add. That to his resume. And also doing

the voice of the imp. Voice of the imp. And you know, Omar the

swami from the beginning of Nightmare Sisters.

And that man's got like

the biggest lips on a white man I've ever seen in my life.

Bigger than Steven Tyler. Okay. Is all I'm saying.

But yeah, we'll leave it at that. If you guys got the gumption,

go check out Cameron's show, the Cinema Degeneration

podcast. I just listened to a banging episode of the Grindhouse

Pizzeria where you did 1984. Yeah, that was

a fun one, Class. I tell you before. I'm sorry. But yeah,

it's. It's always a good time over on that show. And if you guys are

feeling nasty, go. Go subscribe to the butcher shop too. If you guys listen here,

you guys are subscribed already. And the after Movie Diner

with John Cross. You can hear the other half of the in the Parade Way

shows there having a good time with him doing those.

Talking about one auteur, Michael Perret. But on the next

episode of this, we're going to talk about what a tour. Fred Olin

Ray once again. And we're gonna go with Heather Thomas.

We're gonna go with Martin Landau. We're gonna go

with. Who else is in that? Oh, Jeffrey Combs. I saw

Combs. He's in that movie for a short time. No spoilers yet

about a supercharged motorcycle that he invents that apparently

has lasers and makes girls with big boobs. And a

scientist, apparently, because we'll talk about that later too. But this is the

actioneer again, the Cyclone,

I think, from the same year or right around the same year.

But, yeah, it's a lot of fun. And we'll. We'll talk about

that in the next episode of the Burnt Ends.

But this has been civic podcast Burnt Ends,

where if you got beef, we've got the grinder.

Have a good evening. Adios, folks. Yes,

Cyclone is stupid fun.
