Although released the same year as Ken Russell’s ‘The Devils’, The House of Insane Women is a somber look at similar subject matter with much less flair or anger. The film is primarily an asylum melodrama. Because the main character is suffering from the trauma of seeing her mother’s exorcism, it was retitled Exorcism’s Daughter and passed off as a clone of the Exorcist, confusing viewers even further. The cut down to just over 90 minute version of “Exorcism’s Daughter” released in the united states as ‘House of Insane Women’
